# Direction V2 — distilled from the Aug 3 transcript + reference review

The controlling source for round 2 and beyond. Supersedes round-1 assumptions
where they conflict.

## The thesis

> **"The website looks hot before it reveals that it is also stupid."**
> Not careless — intentionally stupid, playful, strange, self-aware.

Target feeling: **alternative hot, fashionable, playful, interactive, confident,
weird, modern, full-send.** A vibe that is expressive AND "a safe place to get
uncomfortable." Modern **viral**, not luxury, not corporate, not girly.

## The brand name decision (BIG)

- Her IG stays **@elisebedancing** (her, the dancer).
- The BRAND / merch line is **AT LEAST BE DANCING** — the pun is the brand:
*"If life is crap — at least be dancing. If you're gonna fail — at least be
dancing."* It deliberately opens the door beyond WCS to a store for all
dancers (good dance clothes are hard to find in every scene).
- Sites should play with the Elise ↔ At Least pun as a typographic event.

## Round-1 verdicts (hers, verbatim-ish)

| Skin | Verdict |
|---|---|
| 02 After Dark | **Closest.** "The vibe it's coming for." Liked the movement. Evolve it. |
| 06 Scrapbook | Not it, but "at least it's edging more of getting wild" — right instinct, too soft/feminine execution. |
| 08 Motion | Similar to 02 but no — disliked some type choices. |
| 01 Editorial | Too plain Jane. |
| 03 Athletic | "Sporty," and she **hates the highlighter/volt yellow-lime**. Avoid that family. |
| 04 Desert Gold | Too soft. "Honky-tonk country… not my brand." |
| 05 Vintage, 07 Luxe, 09 Zine, 10 Romantic | No. (Luxe: "luxury" ≠ her; she's "modern viral.") |

## Reference-review conclusions (the ChatGPT notes)

- **Do NOT assume black.** Black may appear (type, clothing, merch, sections) but
  must not automatically control the identity. Color used with personality;
unexpected combos; section-to-section color changes; neutral base with playful
  moments — all in play.
- **BLÆD** (closest visual): large confident fashion typography, editorial
composition, alternative type treatments. Missing: humor, play, color.
- **Garden Eight** (best personality): playful interaction, strange
alternative-cute details, **a deliberately stupid cursor companion** (cat /
emoji / tiny creature). Desired reaction: "this is stupid" — said with love.
- **COLLINS** (best structure): the page transforms while scrolling; sections
are chapters (hero polished → about personality → tour kinetic → merch chaos
  → quiet close).
- **Motion law:** motion rewards exploration, never punishes reading. Tour
dates, lessons, booking = visual calm. Chaos lives between/around content.
- **No loading screens. No everything-moving-at-once.** Loudness must come from
humor, scale, movement, surprise, catchphrases, color — not from competing
  noise.
- Dislikes: studio-portfolio energy, futuristic tech, soft/precious/girly,
corporate polish, serious fashion with no fun.

## Her language bank (use as real copy / graphic events)

Catchphrases: **doing the yoinky sploinky · oopsy daisy · champion level moves ·
when in doubt, twerk it out · I twerk out the trauma · if you're gonna go wrong,
GO STRONG · presence over perfection · no mistakes, just musicality · embrace
the cringe · unlearn to become unlimited · fail forward · squish bugs ·
seventeen baseball throws · full send · she's wild · get uncomfortable · the
unknown should fear you too · at least be dancing**

Voice: witty, flirty-uplifting to women ("shawties," "honeys," baddie energy),
roast-the-guys humor ("man, stop looking stupid out there — buy this"),
faith-unafraid (open to biblical dance/singing verses on merch), psychology-real
("it's a will issue, not a skill issue"), community-first (dance with beginners;
adaptation is the superpower).

Product humor: "Want to hide your bad leg lines? Buy these pants." / "Bad
frame? This shirt hides it." / "Bent knees? Shop here."

## Her story (site About material)

Not a trained dancer. ~4.5 years ago: went with a friend to the 7pm lesson at
Red River (country bar, Dallas), stayed until 3am close, terrible and hooked;
went back alone the next weekend. Fought calling herself "a dancer" for a long
time. Now All-Star. Moral: *anyone* can do this — fail forward.

## Teaching brand (site/service copy)

Connection over everything (to self → partner → song). The Three C's: Connect,
Create/Commit, Counter/Complete. The wiggle rundown (muscles vs skeleton).
"You are a paintbrush, the world is your canvas, the song is what you're
painting to." Stacked body, presence, squish bugs, pelvis-to-God anatomy jokes
with real Pilates-grade mechanics under them. Confidence = will issue, not
skill issue. **Privates booked via her Calendly — calendly.com/elise-holland28 —
must be prominently, cleanly wired in.**

## Merch V2 (from her, beyond round-1 tees)

- **Her actual wardrobe as product truth:** tight black crop tops (tight over
chest, stops under the bust — never a "curtain"), baggy pants that keep the
butt but hide knees/ankles/leg lines, long lengths, jackets. For guys:
quality minimal crew necks (the Uniqlo tees she bought Salomon). People pay
$100 for the right dance pants; she sources hers ≤$20 (Shein) — the arbitrage
  is branding + curation.
- **Event-day utility line:** portable fans, portable chargers, water bottles,
strong claw clips (double-support), dry shampoo — Temu private-label economics
  (fan <$10 landed, sell ~$20).
- **The Dance Travel Care Package** — a branded kit (dry shampoo, deodorant,
mini toothbrush+paste, mouthwash minis, claw clip…) sold whole or à la carte.
- Shoes she wears: the **Fez by SWAYD** (affiliate/ambassador angle later;
she already has Fuego code Elise10 — precedent exists).
- Launch motion: IG poll → presale → suitcase. (Stuck On Swing proves name+
catchphrase alone sells; she has both PLUS an audience format that converts.)

## What round 2 must deliver

10–15 NEW visual options ("skins2/"), look-and-feel first, placeholders fine
(real photos/videos coming from Salomon soon — leave labeled PHOTO/VIDEO slots).
Spread across: After-Dark-evolved, color-forward non-black, interaction-led,
scroll-chapter builds, and At-Least-Be-Dancing brand-first concepts.
